All this talk about how historic the election because of the race of the President-elect is makes me wish for the real historic time when the race of our President won’t be news one way or the other. Nothing says real acceptance like banality.

This is a step in that direction though, isn’t it? Something can’t be routine until it has happened a few times.

Clearly, but everyone talking about the race of the president continuously smacks of “some of my best friends are black people! I TOTALLY am down with black people!”
