Photo Jenny

If you look at my Flickr stream at all you may have noticed the low quality of my pictures.  This is not due to my usual lack of talent, but because my camera is dying and I am now taking most photos with my iSight.  So I need a new camera.  Despite having spent enough time developing my own film to make me sterile, I know little about actual camera things.  Though I have polled friends, they have little to say.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  I don’t want a serious camera–I want one that will make me look like I know what I am doing, is tiny, and withstands my abuse (oddly, much like my list for potential mates).  Also, moderately priced.  Again, like my choice in suitors.

Any rave reviews or complaints would be welcome.

I was married while I was in NY, so I don’t actually *know* this for a fact, but I saw some suitors who fit your description in the park, at Strand, and here and there around the island. Personally, I’d probably wait outside the Krispy Kreme and see who I like the looks of and if they get excited at the Hot Now sign, I’d know it’s true love.

Camera scmamera. (I own two digital Canons and love them. If they’re still making the elph series, check those out. B&H always has the best deals in NYC.)

Well I have a Canon ELPH! 🙂 And I am currently physically a block from B&H. This is the most convenient advice I have ever received.

See a crucial problem is I hate the park. I don’t want to date a park lover. 🙂

I have an Elph as well, which I ordered from B&H way back in 2003. However it’s been dropped a million times and it doesn’t really turn on any more–hence the Canon Digital Rebel XT that I got last year.

I heard some good things from a professional photographer about the Canon Powershot G9 recently. It apparently can do most of the fancier stuff that an SLR can do, but it’s small and relatively affordable. I guess the key selling point is that it has the thingy where you can attach an external flash. Flash photos on a regular point and shoot are so sucky! So that could be cool. And you can do RAW images instead of just JPEGs, also cool. Oh and movies. That is one thing about the Elph I miss: making little movies!
