expertise

Curtis Ebbesmeyer, an expert on ocean currents, told The Sun a foot wearing a buoyant athletic shoe could float as far as 1,000 miles.

To become an expert means truly being able to answer questions you never thought would relate to your field at all. I salute Curtis!

Is anyone else riveted by this story?

Yes, it is seriously weird how several feet (isn’t it like six, all in running shoes) showed up on the same beach.

It’s timely–we just watched the John Waters thing called “Filthy” and he mentions a couple books about serial killers, so now I’m into that stuff. Filthy is recommended by the way.

So… you weren’t raped and killed during the TV meeting yesterday. Although, I hope you were wearing athletic shoes when he came over so that you could be sure to float for 1000 miles…

Yes, I definitely was one of those riveted. I had to re-read the introductory sentences to see if I got that right: feet, in training (i.e., athletic) shoes, washed ashore. Has to be one of the strangest news stories this year (at least would make the top ten, I bet).

I’m totally into this story, as well. I keep telling everyone about it, but they don’t seem as enthused. Go figure.
